The Gold Quartz Spa

The Southern California region is known for the mining of precious materials. One of the commonly found resources in the area is gold quartz. As this material is perceived to be beautiful and desirable, the spa made in its image is meant to match that energy. This project reflects the luxury and high-status gold quartz represents while being located in a similar area to where it is found. The scope of this project is one space in the spa: the temperature-regulated pools. These pools provide an unforgettable experience at the peak of modern luxury and comfort.

Preliminary Exploration
The research aspect of this project began with deconstructing and reconstructing core elements of a chosen mineral, which in this case is gold quartz. During the reconstruction process, other elements of digital manipulation were utilized to further experiment with this mineral’s expression.
Specific words used to describe and reimagined gold quartz in Blender were rough, variegated, crystalline, vitreous, and shimmer.
