Nature’s Guidance

2ND YEAR INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE

PROFESSOR: FELICIA DEAN

FALL 2020 // ONLINE STUDIO

Nature’s influence is present in many aspects of life, whether it’s obvious or not, because nature is full of paths, both physically and visually, creating a sense of directionality, guidance, and even hierarchy. This feeling of warmth and relaxation is also a part of how nature guides people on an emotional level. That is the goal of this space: to provide a calm, warm feeling boosted by the comfort in a natural flow. This feeling would be supported by the nature-like features inhabiting the space, such as the color scheme.

This clothing boutique is for Byron Lars, a fashion designer who focuses on inclusivity and subtle statement. Inspiration for this design originates from his various clothing collections, as well as his general philosophy of designing for all women.

Preliminary Exploration

Clothing Dissection and Interpretation

Sight is easily drawn from one direction to another, especially when given lines to follow. Lines, both real and implied, guide eyes to look at certain places by providing movement and direction. These paths can create a series of different destinations depending on how they come together and create forms. They also have the ability to create a hierarchy, or even a focus, depending on thickness, color, and shape, highlighting importance.
